My name is Chuck Buchanan. I am the owner of C3S Petrographic. I have 32+ years experience in the cement industry, including 5 1/2 years as a control room operator and 19+ years as a chemical analyst/microscopist at Ash Grove Cement’s Durkee, Oregon plant. I have published papers in Microscopy and Analysis magazine and the proceedings of the International Cement Microscopy Association on clinker microscopy as it relates to kiln process management. I am co-chair of the ICMA Clinker Sample Excange Committee. I have taught classes in clinker sample prep for the Cement Chemist Society and I believe that I have the experience to properly train your personnel in clinker microscopy from sample prep to analysis. I can also recommend the right equipment and supplies to make your microscopy program the best that it can be.
